Welcome to TEP 527/28
Strategies for the secondary teacher introduced in this class include: lesson planning; multiple models of instruction; classroom and time management practices; and integration of multiple intelligences research. Cooperative learning theory and practices commonly used in secondary schools are explored as a primary model of instruction. Students will investigate and respond to current popular media portrayals of teachers and teaching methods in theatre, films, television and/or the popular press; with intent to understand the stereotypes and myths that surround the role of a teacher. Students have opportunities to plan instructional experiences, deliver instruction and reflect upon the theory-to-practice fantasy-to-reality experience of becoming a teacher. Pre-requisite: admission to Teacher Education Program; co-requisites: TEP 547 & TEP 567B.
